Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care across both the NICU and Newborn Nursery settings
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and manage all newborn diagnoses for NICU and Well-Baby populations
  • Conduct car seat testing as part of newborn discharge readiness protocols
  • Float occasionally to postpartum and pediatrics units based on departmental needs
  • Work every other weekend, with an expected 2–4 shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Participate in holiday coverage; candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)

Required Qualifications

  • Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU specialty
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and CPI
  • AHA certifications required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
  • Must live more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from the address on file with the driver's license) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have been separated for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Experience with Well-Baby and postpartum patient populations
  • Familiarity with car seat testing protocols and high-risk delivery attendance
