Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse Madison, WI. This position involves providing specialized care for critically ill neonates and their families in a 26-bed Level IV NICU. The role requires delivering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services to high-acuity premature and full-term infants, including those with surgical needs, congenital conditions, or neurological disorders. The NICU is a patient- and family-centered environment that supports professional excellence and compassionate care.
Job Details:
- Shift Schedule: Rotating, 12-hour shifts, with work hours from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm and 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.
- Certifications: BLS and NRP are required. PALS certification is preferred.
- Qualifications: Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact license, with at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years, including 1 year of Level IV NICU experience. Experience with post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, and invasive/non-invasive ventilation modes.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU experience, with documented experience in managing ventilators, tubes, and complex neonatal conditions.
- Additional Requirements: Previous charge nurse experience, charting system familiarity with Epic, and the ability to float to other units including PICU and non-12 month age groups if needed.
- Schedule: 48 hours per week, on a rotating basis, with two to three weekends per 6-week cycle, including possible weekend shifts.
- Unit Details: Responsible for critically ill infants requiring advanced medical and surgical interventions, diagnostic imaging, and monitoring. The role involves patient-family support, adherence to hospital protocols, and utilization of specialized equipment such as ventilators, aEEG, and cooling devices.
- Other notes: Travel candidates must have at least two years of recent acute care experience in neonatal care, pass strict telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation tests, and comply with floating requirements, not residing within 50 miles of the facility.
