Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Neurocritical Care unit requiring a WI or compact RN license and 4 years of ICU experience.

Details

  • Critical Care ICU Neurology unit within a Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, Magnet-designated hospital
  • 27-bed unit with an average daily census of 25 patients
  • Patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (SAH, IPH, IVH, SDH), seizures, spinal surgeries, and brain mass resections/biopsies
  • Also manages non-neuro ICU overflow including medical respiratory and general medical ICU patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:1-2, with 1:3 for mixed acuity assignments
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • Schedule cycle in 6-week increments
  • Floating required to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, CVICU), medical-surgical units, sitter duties, or PACU surge
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors, and Medtronic EVDs

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 4 years of ICU experience required
  • Minimum 12 months of core specialty experience within the last year required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skills required in vent management, trach care, arterial lines, vasopressor and sedation management, and central line blood draws
  • CVVH/CRRT and EVD experience preferred
  • Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

  • Provide direct care to high-acuity neurocritical care patients including post-thrombectomy and post-TNK stroke cases
  • Work alongside a strong support team including CNAs, Charge RN, Critical Care NPs, Intensivists, Hospitalists, and 24/7 Respiratory Therapy
  • Unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork and evidence-based nursing practice
  • Orientation includes NEO and one shift of unit-specific orientation
  • Holiday coverage required on an every-other-holiday basis
  • Scrub requirement: any solid color with no graphics, logos, or designs
  • Free parking available on site
  • Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff to 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No radius restrictions; local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
  • Up to 7 days of requested time off may be pre-approved
