Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Neuro RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of neuro/telemetry experience and current NIHSS certification.

Details

• Stepdown Neuro unit within a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Patient population includes neurosurgery, neurology, and epilepsy cases such as TBI, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, stroke, and seizure disorders
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required with scheduling flexibility
• Floating required within scope, with travelers prioritized to float first
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system
• Block scheduling not accommodated

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required, verified by competency test
• Strong neuro nursing experience required for consideration of first-time travelers
• IV start, telemetry, and tracheostomy care skills required
• Level 1 trauma experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

• Provide care for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions requiring telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Perform tracheostomy care and management as needed
• Blue scrub color required
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Holiday coverage required, with 1 of 3 major holidays off and 2 holidays worked (eve/day)
• RTO limited to no more than 6 days and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Prior UW/Harborview staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers considered only if they have strong neuro experience
