Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit position requiring active IL RN licensure and Level 1 Trauma experience.

Details

• Neuro Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Cares for patients with mild to severe brain injury due to stroke, trauma, or surgery
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Requires working 6 weekend days per schedule period
• Holiday coverage per unit holiday rotation
• EPIC EMR charting experience required

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in medication administration, safety compliance, neurological care, critical thinking, seizure response, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Additional Information

• Assumes responsibility for a designated group of patients using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and available resources
• Completes admission assessments, develops and modifies individualized plans of care, and documents nursing care per unit standards
• Delegates and validates care tasks assigned to healthcare care technicians
• Provides bedside shift report and maintains visual safety validation of patient rooms at shift change
• Administers medications following the 5 Rights: right patient, medication, route, dose, and time
• Identifies and responds immediately to neurological changes and/or seizure activity
• Maintains patient safety priorities including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation protocols
• Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and effective patient care coordination
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify; no local candidates accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Previous Carle Health contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service after 1 year before returning
