Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Neuro Med/Surg unit requiring night shifts and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit with a 6:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 3 12-hour shifts per week, including 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Tech support available on day and night shifts, with unit secretary coverage from 7a-7p
• Equipment used includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Contract staff are first to float, based on rotation among contract labor staff

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Med/Surg experience required, including ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, and perform basic wound care
• Experience maintaining surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Unit is located within a Comprehensive Stroke Center, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Expected to provide attentive, compassionate care with bedside shift reporting and personal engagement with patients and families
• Dress code requires navy scrub tops and bottoms
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
