Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro IR position requiring ICU experience and membership on the Stroke Team.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Imaging - Interventional Radiology department of a Level II Trauma Center
  • Unit includes 2 Cath Labs and 2 Hybrid Peripheral/OR procedural areas
  • RN will be a member of the Neuro IR Stroke Team
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • No floating required
  • Charge nurse support available Monday-Friday, 0600-1630
  • EPIC charting required, Epic Cupid preferred
  • Uses Alaris and Omnicell equipment
  • Shift options include 4x10-hour shifts (0700-1730 or 0800-1830) or 8-hour shifts (0700-1530 or 0730-1600) on call days
  • Call requirement of 1 week on, 2 weeks off
  • Orientation consists of 4 days of 10-hour shifts

Requirements

  • Active RN license (SD or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2+ years of RN experience required (travelers with only 1 year not accepted)
  • ICU experience required
  • Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
  • Skilled in endotracheal ventilation and ventilator management
  • Experience with tracheostomy patients, including ventilation through stoma
  • Experience with vasoactive and sedation drips
  • Experience with safe use of paralytics
  • Skilled in set-up, troubleshooting, and use of arterial lines
  • Experience with External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), including Camino ICP monitoring
  • Experience with external pacemakers
  • Experience with chest tubes
  • Experience with Swan/Cordis central line catheter use and monitoring
  • Experience recovering and monitoring arterial puncture sites
  • Two references dated within 1 year required for consideration

  • Facility is a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma, Primary Stroke and Chest Pain Center, and Teaching Hospital

  • Must reside 100+ miles from the facility
  • Permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler
