Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring at least two years of recent acute care experience and Epic proficiency, with mandatory crani and EVD experience.

Details

  • Work in the Neuro ICU of a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Care for a mixed ICU and IMC (intermediate care) patient population
  • Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Required to work every other weekend and some holidays
  • Floating required as needed
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Hands-on experience with craniotomy and external ventricular drain (EVD) management required (hard stop requirement)
  • Neurosurgery experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment
  • Skilled in ICP monitoring, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, CVA/acute stroke management, and lumbar drain care
  • Proficient in ventilator management, arterial line management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with central line, PICC line, and port management preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients, including craniotomy and EVD management
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
  • References are not required for consideration
  • Must pass a pass/fail telemetry exam prior to start, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and a minimum passing score of 80% on both adult and pediatric exams
  • Up to two exam attempts are allowed; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course
