Job Summary:
Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Wausau, Wisconsin. This 13-week contract position involves providing specialized nursing care on a neuro critical care unit, supporting patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgical cases. The role requires working night shifts and adapting to float across various critical care units as needed.
Job Details:
- Position: Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Shift: Night shifts (12 hours), starting at 7:00 PM and ending at 7:30 AM
- Schedule: 48 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday work required
- Contract Length: 13 weeks beginning 09/14/2026
- Float Requirements: Will float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units, with possible assignments to other inpatient units as needed
- Required Certifications: Wisconsin RN License, BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum Qualifications: 2 years of relevant experience, including Neuro ICU and/or Medical/Surgical ICU background, with strong assessment skills in Neuro; charting experience with EPIC; minimum of an Associate Degree or Certificate; no minimum years of experience specified but a minimum of 2 years is preferred
- Charting Experience: EPIC
- Unit Information: 8-bed Neuro unit caring for Stroke, TBI, Head injury, and Neurosurgery patients; familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring is necessary; bedside procedures include neuro assessments, line placement, intubation, and placement of bolt and drain devices in collaboration with Neurosurgery
- Additional Notes: Must be resilient, adaptable to change, and capable of managing tasks independently. Scrub colors any color. No guaranteed GSA hours during orientation. During flu season, masks are mandatory for unvaccinated travelers as per policy.
