Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) registered nurse position available in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing advanced care for critically ill adult patients with neuro diagnoses such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and traumatic brain injury on a specialized 18-bed Neuroscience ICU that is designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The assignment offers a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative environment utilizing specialized interventions and procedures.
Job Details:
- Location: 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, beginning on 08/17/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin or compact RN license, two years of recent acute care experience in an inpatient intensive care setting, neuro or surgical ICU experience, BLS and ACLS certifications, experience with telemetry and cardiac interpretation testing, and proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in ICP or ventriculostomy management, neuro ICU experience, and familiarity with intensive neuro procedures such as EVD management, ICP monitoring, and hemodynamic assessment
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, WI or compact RN license
- Skills: Managing arterial lines, ICP management, neuro-specific procedures, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, emergency medication administration, infection prevention, and use of neuro equipment such as CereLink monitors and lumbar drains
- Additional Information: The unit serves patients with neuro diagnoses including stroke, post-thrombectomy, cerebral hemorrhage, neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury. The neurosurgery team requires strong critical thinking and specialized interventions such as hypothermia protocols. Travelers must pass telemetry testing with strict criteria prior to commencing. Float rotation may be required as needed.
