Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse (RN) position is located in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing critical care within a Level 1 Trauma Center and Magnet-certified hospital, supporting adult and geriatric patient populations. The RN will work various night shifts, engaging in diverse ICU specialties such as Neuro ICU, Burn ICU, and Cardiovascular ICU, with an emphasis on patient safety and clinical excellence.

  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only), 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in an inpatient setting, Basic Arrhythmia experience, pass Telemetry test prior to start, ability to identify lethal rhythms, adult telemetry exam with a passing score of 80% or higher, Pediatric exam with a passing score of 80% or higher.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of experience, charge nurse experience, experience with multiple ICU specialties, trauma level I experience is required.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (preferred)
  • Skills: Managing arterial lines, IV management, Ventilator management, Cardiac rhythm interpretation, invasive procedures, infection prevention, response to emergencies such as CVA and trauma, use of various ICU devices including ECMO, IABP, and PICC lines.
  • Additional Unit Information: The role involves floating to Neuro ICU, CVICU, Burn ICU, Trauma ICU, MSICU, and IMC/Progressive units. The hospital offers interdisciplinary support teams including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
  • Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics requiring critical care, with an emphasis on ICU experience and telemetry competency.
