Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring strong neurological critical care experience with EVDs, lumbar drains, and SAH patients.

Details

• Work in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of a hospital, with potential cross-training to the Surgical ICU
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• 300+ bed facility experience preferred
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Required to float to other units and campuses within a reasonable radius per facility request, limited to units where competencies have been demonstrated

Requirements

• Active RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required
• Strong experience with EVDs, lumbar drains, and SAH patient management required
• Post neurosurgery management and ICP monitoring experience required
• CVA/acute stroke management experience required
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with ventilator management, arterial line management, and central line care
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to neurologically complex ICU patients
• Manage EVDs, lumbar drains, and ICP monitoring for SAH and post-neurosurgical patients
• Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance training required
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers considered only with 2+ years of specialty experience
• Travelers must be more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible for full travel pay rate
• Candidates 90-99.9 miles away may be considered at a reduced bill rate
