Travel Nursing Job Details
- Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- End Date: February 15, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Shifts: Three 12-hour shifts per week; 36 hours weekly
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Healthcare Setting: High-acuity surgical and trauma intensive care
- Floating: Required to support other units within the organization as needed
Surgical ICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand; compact or Ohio license accepted
- At least 2 years of recent intensive care unit (ICU) nursing experience
- Experience in a Surgical ICU, Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, or Transplant ICU preferred
- Level II trauma experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Proficiency with Epic or comparable electronic health record systems preferred
- Ability to manage ventilated patients, invasive monitoring, vasoactive infusions, CRRT, and complex surgical patients
- Two professional references required, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill postoperative, trauma, burn, transplant, and surgical patients
- Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, EVD and ICP monitoring, FloTrac, and other advanced critical care technologies
- Titrate vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, insulin infusions, and other critical care medications according to established protocols
- Provide care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, acute or chronic renal failure, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries
- Manage CRRT, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, blood products, wound vacs, and complex surgical dressings
- Assist with bedside tracheostomies, PEG procedures, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, and line placement
- Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias while recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Safely transport patients for diagnostic imaging and procedures as needed
- Float to other units when required while maintaining high standards of patient safety, communication, and clinical care
