MICU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Contract – Columbus, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

MICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience in an ICU or Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a valid compact-state license at the time of submission
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
  • Recent experience with electronic medical record documentation; Epic experience preferred
  • Ability to work night shifts, every other weekend, and float as needed
  • Two professional references, including at least one from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
  • Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered

MICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to adult patients experiencing sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, liver failure, multisystem organ dysfunction, diabetic ketoacidosis, COVID-related complications, and post-cardiac-arrest conditions
  • Manage mechanically ventilated patients and support patients receiving BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula therapy
  • Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, sedation, and neuromuscular-blockade infusions according to protocol
  • Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, ports, and other invasive devices
  • Provide continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) care using NxStage equipment and support patients with acute or chronic renal failure
  • Interpret arterial blood gases, dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKGs to identify changes in patient condition
  • Administer blood products, emergency medications, IV sedation, and other prescribed therapies safely
  • Apply hypothermia protocols, neuro and stroke-care interventions, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical care practices as indicated
  • Maintain isolation precautions, infection-prevention standards, wound vacs, and safe suctioning practices
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in Epic
