Travel Nursing Job Details

- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Floating: Required to other units within the organization as needed
Surgical ICU RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact-state nursing license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Level II trauma experience required
- Surgical ICU, trauma ICU, burn ICU, transplant ICU, or comparable high-acuity nursing experience preferred
- Experience with Epic or another electronic health record (EHR) preferred
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal nursing leader
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
- Ability to complete required credentialing, including Ohio fingerprinting, promptly after accepting the assignment
Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit
- Care for patients with trauma, burn, transplant, general surgery, plastic surgery, ENT, colorectal, orthopedic, and neurosurgical conditions
- Manage patients requiring ventilators, invasive monitoring, EVD and ICP monitoring, FloTrac, and continuous IV sedation
- Titrate vasoactive medications and manage IV insulin protocols
- Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, pulmonary artery lines, and other advanced access devices
- Provide BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, CRRT, and other respiratory support as indicated
- Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Administer blood products, procedural sedation, and prescribed medications safely
- Assist with chest tube procedures, bedside tracheostomies, PEG placements, bronchoscopies, endoscopies, and line placement
- Perform complex wound and surgical dressing care, including burn dressings and wound-vac management
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, IV services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
- Safely transport and monitor patients for CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, and other diagnostic procedures
- Float to other units as assigned and participate in weekend coverage and applicable call responsibilities
