Travel Surgical ICU Registered Nurse (SICU RN) – Night Shift in Columbus, Ohio
Join a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) as a travel ICU nurse in Columbus, Ohio, and make a meaningful impact caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients.
This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to work in a Level I trauma and burn center environment while supporting patients with complex surgical, trauma, transplant, burn, neurological, and multisystem conditions. First-time travelers are welcome. - Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Weekend Coverage: Required
- Floating: Required to other units within the healthcare organization as needed

Travel ICU RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
- Recent experience in a Surgical ICU, Trauma ICU, Burn ICU, or Transplant ICU preferred
- Level II trauma experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Completion of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Ability to float to other units and participate in weekend coverage
- Professional references, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
Surgical Intensive Care Unit RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill surgical, trauma, burn, transplant, neurological, and multisystem patients
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula therapies
- Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, pulmonary artery lines, FloTrac systems, EVDs, and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Titrate vasoactive medications, continuous IV sedation, insulin infusions, and other critical care therapies
- Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac rhythms, recognize clinical changes, and initiate timely interventions
- Support patients receiving CRRT and care for those with acute or chronic renal failure
- Administer blood products and provide care for complex surgical wounds, wound vacs, drains, and large dressings
- Assist with chest tube procedures, bedside tracheostomies, PEGs, bronchoscopies, endoscopies, and line placement
- Provide daily burn wound care and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and evaluate individualized care plans
- Safely transport and monitor patients during procedures and diagnostic studies, including CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation and promote infection prevention, patient safety, and evidence-based practice
