Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a night shift position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with a preferred 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a Certified Stroke Center's Neuro ICU
  • Patient ratio of 2:1
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-6:45)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float required to other ICUs within scope
  • Block scheduling may be considered
  • Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active OK or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required in hand
  • 2 years of Neuro ICU experience preferred
  • 1 year Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in EVD management, ventilator management, and stroke management
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
  • Experience with arterial line management and central line care
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips

Additional Information

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinate care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Manage neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke
  • Perform discharge planning and patient/family education
  • Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with Board of Nursing regulations
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Brief unit orientation provided for floating assignments
