Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neonatal ICU RN for a Level 3/4 NICU requiring 2+ years of high-acuity NICU experience and a compact or NC RN license.

Details

  • Level 3/4 NICU setting within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital
  • Unit has 53 beds plus overflow with an average census of 58
  • Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
  • Patient population includes respiratory, cardiac, neuro, GI/GU, and infectious conditions common to neonates
  • Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (1900-0700)
  • Weekend rotation includes 2 Fridays, 2 Mondays, and every other Saturday/Sunday within a 6-week schedule
  • No on-call requirements; may float to similar units if NICU census does not require staffing
  • Floating required to Neonatal PCU, Pediatric CVICU, PICU, or general Peds units as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or compact) required
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Must be comfortable in a high-acuity, fast-paced NICU environment
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skilled in critical care vasoactive drip titration, invasive line management (ART/CVP), ventilator and trach management, and other advanced NICU procedures
  • Experience with EVDs, Camino devices, CRRT, or ECMO preferred but not required
  • Minimum 1 professional reference within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide advanced neonatal critical care including respiratory, cardiac, neuro, and GI/GU management
  • Support from unit secretary, charge nurse, IV/VAT/PCVC team, resource nurse, RT, intensivist, residents, and APPs available 24/7
  • Unit-based educators and clinical supervisors provide ongoing support
  • Orientation includes NEO training plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday while on contract, including day of and eve/day after holiday
  • RTO requests limited; contract extension may be required to accommodate significant time-off needs
  • Navy scrub color required; solid navy or white long sleeves permitted; no tight scrubs; pediatric-friendly tops only
  • Bare below elbow policy strictly enforced in nurseries (no jewelry, watches, or artificial nails)
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
  • First-time travelers may be considered pending manager approval based on current staffing needs
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before reapplying
