Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact license and at least 1 year of MS/Tele nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg/Telemetry unit of a community hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:30-7:00), on a 36/36 schedule
• 13-week assignment length
• Requires any charting system experience

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or compact) required in hand at time of submission
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response required
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management required
• Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use required
• BSN required for international travelers

Additional Information

• Contract nursing team members are expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside patient care duties
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines; refusal may result in cancellation
• Candidates must commit to completing a drug test within 12-14 calendar days prior to start and be available for potential retesting
• General orientation begins on Sundays and includes online computer-based learning modules averaging 4-5 hours, included as non-billable orientation time
• Hospital reserves the right to cancel one shift biweekly without financial penalty in response to census decreases
• Candidates must reside 100 miles or more from the hospital's service area; local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
