Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring an active VA or compact RN license, BLS, and Epic experience.

Details

• 12-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Patient population includes respiratory illness, renal illness, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating required within scope of practice per facility float policy
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), medication administration, heparin protocols, and PCA
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Skilled in IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Experience managing renal failure patients
• Tracheostomy care/management experience preferred
• Two professional references required
• Copies of required certifications, driver's license, and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit, including telemetry monitoring, wound care, and insulin drip management
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any planned vacation between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed in advance
• Specialty-specific orientation modules will be completed during onboarding
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
