Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of neuro MS/Tele experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), Monday through Friday
• 4x12 shift schedules will also be accepted
• Weekend rotation required with holidays as needed
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Neuro MS/Tele within the last 3 years
• Epic EMR experience required, within past 12 months preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, covering adult and pediatric dysrhythmia recognition with strict scoring criteria
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing neurological and neurosurgical patients, including CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation
• Experience with wound care, wound vac management, and IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered if they have 2 years of Level I or similar-size hospital inpatient neuro experience within the last two years
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates will not be accepted
• Must successfully complete telemetry testing (adult and pediatric) prior to clearance to start, with limited attempts allowed
• Provide direct patient care for a mixed Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Ortho Trauma population
• Parking permit required for onsite parking; alternative transportation options available
