Travel RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250-$2,370
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Schedule: 3 night shifts per week; weekend and holiday rotations based on operational needs
• Unit: 28-bed medical-surgical/telemetry unit with a daily census of 25 or more
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4 days and 1:5 nights
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Additional Details: Floating may be required to other inpatient units; free onsite parking is available

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements

• At least 2 years of acute-care inpatient medical-surgical/telemetry nursing experience within the last 3 years
• Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Previous Epic charting experience
• Strong telemetry knowledge and the ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms
• Successful completion of a telemetry examination before clearance to start
• Ability to meet travel nursing assignment requirements; applicants residing within 50 miles of the assignment location are not eligible
• Required influenza vaccination, with medical or religious exemptions considered according to applicable policy

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality registered nursing care to medical-surgical and select intermediate-care patients during overnight shifts
• Monitor telemetry and recognize dysrhythmias, including life-threatening rhythms and advanced heart blocks
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, diabetes, infection, hypertension, chest pain, heart failure, falls, alcohol withdrawal, renal failure, and failure to thrive
• Provide postoperative nursing care for orthopedic, neurologic, bariatric, endocrine, abdominal, and other surgical patients
• Manage and monitor heparin and insulin infusions, PCA therapy, wound vacuums, surgical drains, feeding tubes, central lines, PICC lines, and other specialized treatments
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, IV management, blood product administration, wound care, isolation precautions, and patient education
• Collaborate with physicians, therapy services, respiratory care, pharmacy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
• Participate in admissions, discharges, quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and multidisciplinary care planning
• Float to other inpatient units as needed while maintaining professional standards and continuity of care
