Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring ventilator/trach experience and 2 years of relevant nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a Level I Trauma Center, short term acute care hospital
• Overflow ventilator patients with average ratios of 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
• Patient assignment may include up to 5 non-vent patients alongside pulmonary vented and vent weaning patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:00
• Required to work every other weekend
• Float frequently within scope to sister units NP1 and EP 4-6
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required, or pending license accepted if active prior to start date
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Ventilator patient care experience required
• Tracheostomy care/management experience required
• Non-invasive airway management skills required
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management skills required
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
• One professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory and cardiac monitoring care to a medical-surgical telemetry patient population, including ventilated and vent-weaning patients
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local
• Previous perm staff must be separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or other emergency response activities
