Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit Contract in Columbus, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), stepdown, and intermediate care
- Patient Population: Adult medical-surgical and progressive care patients
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Healthcare Setting: 31-bed mixed-acuity medical-surgical and progressive care unit with an average daily census of approximately 25 patients
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling with weekend coverage required
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, progressive care, intermediate care, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license at the time of submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Demonstrated ability to manage CPAP and BiPAP
- Experience titrating cardiac drips
- Charge nurse experience or the ability to function effectively in a charge-capable role
- Strong telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Comfort with floating to other units within the healthcare system as needed
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Ability to complete required credentialing and fingerprinting promptly before the assignment begins
Progressive Care RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care for adult patients with complex medical conditions, including bacteremia, COPD exacerbations, chronic kidney disease, altered mental status, anemia or gastrointestinal bleeding, failure to thrive, falls, abdominal pain, and patients requiring suicide or medical observation
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition requiring prompt intervention
- Manage noninvasive airway support, including CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen delivery systems, and tracheostomy care
- Titrate cardiac medications and other therapies according to established protocols
- Care for patients with chest tubes, feeding tubes, NG or Dobhoff tubes, wound vacuums, PCA therapy, and peripheral IV access
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other support departments
- Float to other appropriate units as assigned while maintaining high standards of patient care
- Participate in rapid response and code team processes and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
