Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring NY licensure, Epic experience, and a joint/ortho trauma surgical unit background.

Details

• 34-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with joint center of excellence specializing in hip, knee, and shoulder replacements
• Also treats general surgery cases (appendectomies, exploratory laps, hernias) and medical patients requiring telemetry
• Only M/S unit with wall suction, accepting all SBO cases
• Patient population spans adolescents to elderly
• Staffing ratio of 1:9 on all shifts using a care delivery model of 1 RN, 1 LPN, 1 PCT per 9 patients (modified teams used when full teams unavailable)
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month required
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• Wound care/wound vac and ostomy management experience
• Experience with total joint replacement and ortho trauma patient populations

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across a mix of surgical and medical telemetry patients, including joint replacement and general surgery cases
• Work alongside LPNs and PCTs in a team-based care delivery model
• Scrub colors limited to navy blue and/or white, in any combination
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
