Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/ Telemetry
Shift Details & Logistics
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (1900–0730)
- Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling (first-come, first-served basis); schedules posted 4 weeks in advance
- Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule block (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
- Holiday Requirement: Required rotation (2 major Winter holidays, 1 major Summer holiday)
- Standby/Call: Required per facility expectations
- Floating: First to float within the service line and overflow areas (limited to skillset/level of care)
- Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per assignment
Unit Overview & Workflow
- Unit: 29-bed Telemetry Unit (all private rooms)
- Ratios: 4–5 : 1 (Night shift is primary care with no Nurse Aides on duty)
- Patient Population: Renal, GI, Sepsis, and Mental Health
- Support Staff: Remote Monitor Techs (RNs must interpret strips and identify rhythm changes), 24/7 RT support, unassigned Charge Nurse on shift, and 24/7 House Supervisors
- Respiratory Scope: Max 6L via nasal cannula; no High-Flow or BiPAP on unit; CPAP for non-obstructive sleep apnea only; RNs administer all breathing treatments
- Charting System: Cerner
- Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs (no t-shirts), closed-toe shoes
Core Responsibilities & Clinical Skills
- Manage non-titratable drips, including Heparin, Lasix, Amiodarone, and Cardizem.
- Demonstrate proficient EKG interpretation, cardiac monitoring, and groin management.
- Deliver complete primary nursing care during night shifts.
Requirements & Mandatory Compliance
- Certifications:AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and EKG competency.
- Dysrhythmia Exam: Must pass via UNA within 48 hours of offer acceptance (max 2 attempts). Failure results in a 6-month DNU for CSH AZ & CSH Sacramento.
- Orientation Assessment: Must pass a Pass/Fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation. Failure results in immediate cancellation and a 6-month DNU.
- Radius Rule: Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (Driver's License required with submittal).
