Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for an oncology unit requiring 2+ years of RN experience and current Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Patients require continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
• Caseload includes soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management
• Focus on management of comorbidities, infection prevention, and fall prevention protocols
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (3x12), reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care RN experience in the specialty required, consistently worked within the last 12 months
• Epic charting experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, IV starts, assisting with chest tube insertion/removal, high flow nasal cannula management, and ABG interpretation
• Additional preferred skills: chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, PCA and insulin drip titration, telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Oncology and teaching hospital experience preferred but not required
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients requiring cardiac monitoring, symptom management, and chemotherapy administration
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued; previous travel experience is preferred but not required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former employees eligible for assignment only after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
• RTO must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
