Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a palliative care unit position requiring 2+ years of acute care experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Palliative care unit focused on symptom management for patients with serious illness, including uncontrolled pain, severe nausea/vomiting, failure to thrive, and fatigue
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• May be scheduled for a 12D/N rotating contract with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity level
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license, Ohio or compact, required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience required, must be current and within the same specialty
• Acute care experience must be consistent within the last 12 months
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required: cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide symptom management and quality of life care for patients undergoing treatment for serious illness
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for the second reference; no coworker references accepted
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel positions at this health system
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
