Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with at least two years of recent experience and prior travel assignment history for a night shift position requiring an active VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit specializing in post-operative care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
  • Unit also cares for Level III trauma patients and accepts Medical-Surgical overflow as census permits
  • Telemetry monitoring capability for up to 8 patients
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Typical patient ratio is 1:7, though budgeted ratio is 1:5 and may flex up to 1:7 max
  • Every other weekend and floating required
  • Holiday coverage required within the contract, including two of three winter holidays

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
  • Minimum of two years of recent relevant experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Proficiency in Epic required, no exceptions
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
  • No prior license or background hits accepted
  • Must be able to pass EKG competency test with 80% or higher, no remediation available
  • Cannot accommodate PAPR use; history of fit test issues will eliminate candidacy

Additional Information

  • Provide post-operative nursing care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients along with trauma and medical-surgical overflow patients
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry remote monitoring
  • Skills in wound care, isolation precautions, IV therapy, and management of respiratory equipment such as BiPAP/CPAP and chest tubes are valued
  • Charge nurse experience and teaching hospital experience are preferred but not required
  • 3 hours of billable orientation modules must be completed prior to start date
  • Candidates must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be considered for RN positions
  • Requested time off must be submitted and will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
