Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit providing multi-level care including isolation for COVID patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (1845-0715), 3x per week
• 36 or 48 hour contracts accepted
• 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care, heparin protocols, and PCA
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and IV insulin protocols/titration
• Non-invasive airway management and respiratory care skills
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide med/surg and telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and insulin management
• 24-hour unit orientation with hospital orientation and daily classes required during week 1
• Pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed prior to start and annually
• Navy scrubs required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Previous PERM/PRN/EP employees of this health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler, with facility rehire approval required
• Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
