Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and IN or compact RN licensure.

Details

• MS/Tele unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5-7
• Day shift, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital, within scope of practice
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, PICC line management, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, telemetry remote monitoring, wound care/wound vac, and feeding tube care
• Experience with PCA medications, post-MI cardiac care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure management preferred
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac) and surgical drain care preferred
• RN must have graduated from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide med/surg telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia interpretation and management and use of rapid response/code teams
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted for this unit
• Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
