Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a Compact or LA RN license in hand.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient diagnoses include chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, PNA, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, and syncope
• Potential for med-surg overflow patients including GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, and COVID+
• Involves pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), bedside sheath pulling, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Uses telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
• 1:6 patient ratio
• Day shift, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
• May be pulled to other inpatient units
• Specific scheduling requests such as block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• No call-in requirement

Requirements

• Active Compact or LA RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and on-unit monitoring
• Experience with chest tubes, CABG, post-angiogram, post-MI, cardiac cath, and sheath removal
• Skilled in port accessing, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line care and management
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/management
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required with candidate profile

Additional Information

• Provide bedside care to cardiac and telemetry patients, including monitoring, drip titration, and post-procedural care
• May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, requiring extended on-site presence
• Willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with every other holiday required
• Orientation held 5 days a week
• First-time travelers welcome if they have at least 2 years of specialty experience
• Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Prior permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel employee
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
