Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with an average daily census of approximately 25 patients
- Perform telemetry monitoring and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Rotate weekend shifts as scheduled, with an expected minimum of 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Be available to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) based on departmental needs and staff rotation
- In the event of an emergency, may be assigned to an emergency response team or relief team as directed by unit management; specific details will be communicated at the time of each event
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
Required Qualifications
- Active Compact or Louisiana RN license — must be in hand at time of submittal
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience; minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry specialty required per facility compliance
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), CPI — all AHA certifications required; CPI must be obtained prior to start if not already held
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from the address on file with the driver's license to the facility) to be eligible
- Current NURSYS report required — must be dated within 4 weeks of submission date
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have been separated for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with self-scheduling in a travel or high-acuity environment
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and interpretation in a fast-paced unit
- Strong adaptability and reliability — attendance is critical; call-ins are not accepted
