Travel Nursing Job Details

• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights
• Unit Profile: 36-bed Med/Surg unit with an average daily census of approximately 20
• Documentation System: EPIC
• Medication Dispensing System: Omnicell
• Orientation: 24 hours, with required annual compliance education

Med/Surg Tele Travel RN Requirements

• Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required; 2 years is strongly preferred
• At least 1 year of recent EPIC experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Demonstrated Med/Surg Tele nursing competencies, including interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Successful completion of an EKG assessment
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients with respiratory disease, infections, dementia, neurological conditions, and other general medical-surgical diagnoses
• Ability to float to qualified units or locations based on census and patient-care needs
• Flu vaccination required

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg Telemetry patients
• Assess patients, develop and update individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate clinical outcomes
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including management of heparin protocols, and monitor for therapeutic response
• Provide central and peripheral line care, initiate and maintain IVs, and administer oxygen therapy
• Support patients requiring feeding tube care, wound care, wound vac management, and isolation precautions
• Recognize clinical deterioration and activate rapid response or code resources as appropriate
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in EPIC
• Maintain flexibility when floating to other qualified Med/Surg or Telemetry units
