Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry | 13-Week Night Shift Contract
Join a dedicated adult neuroscience medical-surgical telemetry team in Maryville, Tennessee, for a 13-week travel nursing assignment. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Maryville, Tennessee
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Typical Staffing Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients on nights
- Documentation System: Epic
- Floating: May be required to support other units based on census and demonstrated competencies
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are not being considered
- At least 1 year of Epic electronic medical record experience
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Demonstrated experience caring for patients with a 1:6 assignment ratio
- Ability to work night shifts and every-other-weekend coverage
- Strong telemetry assessment, clinical judgment, and care coordination skills
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a neuroscience-focused medical-surgical telemetry setting
- Monitor and care for patients with stroke or TIA, seizures, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, heart failure, sepsis, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, acute kidney failure, and post-cardiac catheterization needs
- Perform ongoing nursing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate timely interventions
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and provide care for patients requiring telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring
- Manage oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, non-invasive airway support, and oral suctioning
- Administer medications including insulin, heparin, and non-titrated cardiac infusions according to established protocols
- Provide care involving central lines, PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, blood products, feeding tubes, ostomies, wound care, and wound vacs
- Perform or assist with continuous bladder irrigation and peritoneal dialysis care as indicated
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and IV services
- Support a positive patient experience through compassionate communication, patient education, and individualized care
- Float to appropriate units when needed and perform only duties supported by documented competencies
