Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg Telemetry Night Shift Contract in Leonardtown, Maryland
Experienced Registered Nurses are invited to join an adult medical-surgical telemetry team in Leonardtown, Maryland, for a 13-week travel nursing assignment beginning November 9, 2026. This travel RN opportunity is ideal for a telemetry nurse with acute-care experience who enjoys caring for diverse adult patients, managing complex medical and postoperative cases, and collaborating with a supportive hospital team. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
- Employment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Contract Duration: November 9, 2026 through February 8, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,710–$1,800
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift: Nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend; approximately six weekend shifts during the contract
- Patient Assignment: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Healthcare Setting: Adult medical-surgical telemetry unit
- Floating: May be required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Travel RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland or a valid compact RN license
- At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Recent experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
- Strong telemetry monitoring and adult acute-care assessment skills
- Ability to provide two supervisory references, including one from the most recent assignment
- Ability to meet required onboarding, clinical education, screening, and compliance deadlines
- Flu vaccination is required
Med-Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly identify, interpret, and manage dysrhythmias
- Care for patients with diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, renal conditions, sickle cell crisis, gastrointestinal bleeding, diverticulitis, and general medical or observation needs
- Care for postoperative patients following orthopedic, colorectal, vascular, bariatric, and other general surgical procedures
- Manage telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, central lines, PICC lines, surgical drains, feeding tubes, IV therapy, blood products, oxygen therapy, and PCA equipment
- Perform focused assessments, administer medications, implement care plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and activate rapid response or code resources when indicated
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and promote a safe, respectful patient-care environment
