Job Details:

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years with 1 year of direct Med Surg experience.
• Traveler Experience: Unit will not accept first-time travelers (must have at least 2 successful contracts before applying).
• Locals Accepted: Yes, with rate difference.
• Required Skills: IV Start and Telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, Med/Surg neuro experience.
• Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS; ACLS preferred but not required.
• Patient Ratios: 1:6.
• Floating Requirement: Required to float to any other MS/Tele areas, may include COVID care units.
• Patient Diagnoses: Primarily stroke patients, including possible neurosurgery patients and other neuro diagnoses such as epilepsy and subdural hematomas.
• Special Procedures: 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU); training provided for nurses, typically does not affect travelers.
• Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
• Unit Orientation: 36 hours.
• Scrubs: Navy.

Travelers are required to work every other weekend, and if RTO includes weekends, time will be added to the end of the contract to make up for those dates. If a traveler calls in for a scheduled weekend shift, they will need to make up those shifts based on the needs of the unit. Frequent floating may be required.
