Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring EPIC EMR experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit setting
• Patient population includes higher oxygen demand, dialysis, afib, and post heart cath patients
• Step-down level care from ICU, no vents or pressor support
• Manages drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation (no titration)
• Provides telemetry monitoring
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on need
• Floating to similar units may be required based on census needs

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a similar unit required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and oxygen administration
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac cath/angiogram care

Additional Information

• Unit will consider first-time travelers based on experience level
• Orientation occurs every Monday along with annual compliance training
• Pre-assignment testing and modules required to be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• May be required to float to other units or campuses based on facility census needs
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible, except for specific night shift and specialty exceptions
• Travelers cannot extend beyond a third consecutive 13-week contract and must begin conversion to employee status or take a six-month separation before returning as a traveler
