Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on an inpatient Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit serving adult and geriatric populations, with a strong focus on patient experience
- Care for patients with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
- Perform and support specialized procedures including peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
- Maintain a staffing ratio of 1:6 on night shift
- Float to other units based on census needs and demonstrated competencies — staff will only be assigned to units for which competencies have been documented
- Administer and manage medications using the Omnicell medication system
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Medical Surgical or Telemetry unit
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates residing 90–99.9 miles away may be considered at a reduced rate; candidates under 90 miles are not eligible. Exception: Night shift travelers in Adult Medical Tele / Adult Cardiac Tele / Progressive Care must be 50+ miles from the contracted campus only — candidates 50–99.9 miles away may be considered at a reduced rate; under 50 miles is ineligible.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for stroke and TIA patient populations in an inpatient setting
- Familiarity with peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation procedures
- Prior travel nursing experience in a Medical Surgical or Telemetry environment
