Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring EPIC EMR experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes higher oxygen demand patients, dialysis patients, afib, and post heart cath cases
• Step-down from ICU level care, no vents or pressor support
• Manages drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotolol initiation without titration
• Telemetry monitoring required
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on need
• Floating to similar units may be required based on census needs

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a similar unit required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills needed include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration), IV therapy/phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath care preferred
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
• Tracheostomy care/management preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac and telemetry patients transitioning from ICU level care
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergent patient needs
• Orientation held every Monday with annual compliance requirements
• Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers will be considered based on relevant experience
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible at full bill rate, with reduced eligibility distances for night shift telemetry positions
