Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring a TN or compact RN license and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

  • Inpatient Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients along with higher acuity med-surg cases
  • Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Night staffing ratio of 1:6
  • Floating required to other units and campuses based on facility need and staff competencies
  • Unit performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
  • Uses Omnicell medication system
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active TN or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent relevant nursing experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required

  • Preferred skills include port access/management, PCA management, blood product administration, and non-invasive airway management

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for stroke/TIA and high-acuity med-surg patients with a strong focus on patient experience
  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and respond to rapid response/code team activations as needed
  • Orientation occurs every Monday along with annual compliance training
  • Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with reduced rates for those between 90-99.9 miles
  • Night shift travelers in this specialty must be at least 50 miles from the contracted campus, with reduced rates for those between 50-99.9 miles and ineligibility under 50 miles
  • Travelers cannot extend beyond three consecutive 13-week contracts or 39 weeks without converting to employee status, or must take a six-month separation before returning as a traveler
