Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN with a TX or compact license and prior travel experience for a 36-hour night shift assignment.

Details

• Work in a 14-bed medical-surgical/telemetry unit with 12 private and 2 semi-private rooms
• Unit focuses on vascular disease diagnoses with patients ranging from young adults to geriatrics
• Admissions may also include general medical-surgical and telemetry overflow patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Floating required
• Weekends required
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submittal
• BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
• Experience with GI care including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Respiratory care skills including HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oral suctioning
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Wound care and wound vac experience

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a medical-surgical/telemetry unit, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response using Rapid Response/Code teams
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• Onboarding modules are completed onsite during orientation
