Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele orthopedic spine unit position requiring 1+ years of ortho experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Adult 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries (laminectomies, spinal fusions, discectomies) with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
• Patient diagnoses include Med/Surg, Tele, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
• Performs special procedures including bedside lumbar puncture, post Cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT Angio, and Heparin drips
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend (6 weekend shifts)
• Floating to other units or campuses required as needed, limited to areas of demonstrated competency

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Dysrhythmia certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Med/Surg Tele or orthopedic unit required
• Orthopedic experience required
• 1 year minimum of EPIC EMR experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Work in a regional community teaching medical center designated as a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
• Provide post-operative and telemetry care for orthopedic spine patients including pain management, mobility support, and physical therapy coordination
• Orientation held every Monday with annual compliance requirements
• Pre-assignment testing and training modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
