Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel assignment history at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • Float pool position covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
  • Work involves Ortho/Neuro-Stroke and Cardiac Tele patient populations
  • Shifts may be split into 8-hour and 4-hour segments across different units, requiring strong time management
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Every other weekend requirement with flexibility expected
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Required to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • High volume of peripheral nerve catheter management on ortho floors

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or Level II trauma facility
  • Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
  • BSN preferred
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and cardiac monitoring required
  • Experience titrating insulin drips required
  • Strong ortho and neuro clinical skills required
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • 2 professional references required, preferably supervisory

Additional Information

  • Provide float pool nursing care across multiple acute care and telemetry units within scope of practice
  • Manage complex cardiac, neuro, and ortho trauma patients including total joint replacement and pre/post cardiac cath cases
  • Any solid color scrubs accepted; facility also provides light blue scrubs for OR use
  • RTO cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment, including orientation week
  • Holiday coverage required: 2 holidays worked (eve/day), with 1 of 3 major holidays off; no RTO permitted for Christmas
  • Prior UW staff must have 18 months separation before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate with no mile radius restriction
  • Manager prefers to avoid placing travel pairs on the unit
  • First-time travelers will not be considered
