Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and prior travel assignment history at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Details

  • Float pool covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
  • Every other weekend required with flexibility expected
  • Floats within scope to meet facility needs, sometimes splitting a 12-hour shift between two units
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • High volume of ortho floor peripheral nerve catheter management

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, pending license accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele or stepdown experience in a Level I or II trauma hospital
  • Minimum of 1 prior travel contract required, no first-time travelers
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry proficiency exam at orientation
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Strong ortho/neuro skills required
  • Experience with insulin drip titration required
  • Experience with CVA and pre/post neurosurgery care
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • BSN preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across med/surg, telemetry, ortho, and cardiovascular units
  • Manage patients requiring cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and insulin drip titration
  • Care for ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients, including peripheral nerve catheter management
  • Manager prefers to avoid pairing travelers from the same agency
  • Any solid color scrubs accepted; light blue scrubs also provided for select units
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
  • RTO must be minimal and cannot be requested during the first two weeks or orientation week
  • One of three major holidays may be requested off, but two holidays must be worked
  • No Christmas RTO permitted
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
  • Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
