Job Summary:
MRI Technologist, MRI in en_US This position involves operating and preparing specialized equipment to perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures. The role requires applying technical judgment to obtain high-quality studies in accordance with written protocols and patient needs.
Job Details:
- Performs MRI imaging procedures.
- Positions patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study results.
- Provides patient education relevant to imaging procedures by informing the patient of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions.
- Reviews all patient safety questionnaires prior to introducing patients into the MRI scan room.
- Ensures all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified by the department standard operating procedures.
- Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures images are transmitted to the picture archiving and communication system in a timely fashion.
- Ensures all studies performed are completed in radiology information system in a timely manner.
- Maintains the radiology room and equipment cleanliness at the start and end of each shift, including removal of soiled or dirty linen.
- Scans patient-related documents.
- Maintains supplies and accessories necessary to safely perform duties.
- Accurately records all required patient tracking information into the radiology information system.
- Schedules exams into the radiology information system as required.
- Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
- Assists physicians directly as required.
- Calls for in-patients as necessary.
- Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
- Maintains safety standards by adhering to safety guidelines to prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic material into the scan room.
- Protects self, patients, and staff by following infection control policies and protocols.
- Attends in-services and professional development meetings as required.
- Maintains licensure in good standing, adhering to relevant public health Code requirements.
