Pediatric MRI Technologist

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM–9:30 PM, with some schedule flexibility based on unit needs; holiday coverage required as needed; no on-call required

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI equipment efficiently and adjust scanning parameters to accommodate patients ranging from neonates through age 18
  • Prepare patients for scans, explain procedures, and provide age-appropriate care to promote patient comfort
  • Screen patients prior to scanning, identify contraindications, and independently determine when a scan must be paused due to motion or when sedation/anesthesia is warranted
  • Coordinate with physicians to facilitate diagnostic imaging and ensure timely delivery of results
  • Document all procedures accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information
  • Maintain a clean, safe scanning environment and adhere to all MRI safety policies and guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Radiology, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of MRI technologist experience
  • At least 6 months of pediatric MRI experience; must be comfortable scanning neonates through age 18
  • Siemens scanner experience required for consideration
  • ARRT certification required
  • New York State Radiologic Technologist License required prior to start (candidates in process of obtaining will be considered)
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and ability to stand for extended periods
