Description

American Traveler is seeking a Mother-Baby/Postpartum RN with a minimum of 2 years of postpartum and L&D experience for a hospital-based couplet care unit.

Details

• Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Postpartum unit of a hospital setting
• Care for postpartum patients including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, multiple births, and pregnancy induced hypertension
• Provide newborn care including cord care, thermoregulation, phototherapy, and metabolic screening
• May float to units of similar acuity
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience required
• L&D experience and IV start skills required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Perform IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, and medication administration including antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, and pitocin
• Provide postpartum care including bladder assessment/foley catheter insertion, breastfeeding instruction, episiotomy/incision care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and breast pump use instruction
• Deliver newborn care including infant identification, discharge teaching, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, and circumcision care teaching
• Perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation as needed
• Manage pain assessment and administration of opioids as needed
• Administer vaccines as part of professional duties
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be requested at time of consideration and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
