Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring MICU experience and an active OH or compact RN license in hand.

Details

  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting caring for adult patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to other units within the OSU organization may be required based on need
  • Epic EMR used
  • Navy blue scrub color required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (OH or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU/MICU experience required
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • Skilled in ventilator management, arterial/central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV sedation, and neuromuscular blockade
  • Proficient in CRRT, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Experience with hypothermia protocol and stroke/neuro care
  • Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with wound vacs, isolation precautions, and infection prevention practices
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor-level leader (Charge RN acceptable as second reference, no coworker references)

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care to adult MICU patients including respiratory, renal, neurological, and cardiac management
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
  • Perform procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Administer IV insulin protocols and manage emergency medications
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract, with travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or completion of a mailed fingerprinting packet if outside the state
  • RTO requests must be submitted with contract and limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current OSU hospital employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
