Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Medical ICU position requiring an active NY license, EPIC experience, and 2 years of MICU experience.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Medical ICU (MICU)
• Patient population includes sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2, with occasional 1:1 based on acuity
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 1900-0730
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of MICU experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Experienced in management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Proficient in 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and IV therapy
• Skilled in arterial line and central line care/management
• Experienced in blood product administration and IV medication management
• Proficient in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experienced with continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade
• Skilled in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Experienced in BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Proficient in ABG interpretation and ETT/NT suctioning
• Experienced in chest tube insertion/removal assistance and fresh tracheostomy care
• Skilled in high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
• Experienced managing pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, and respiratory failure
• Knowledgeable in isolation precautions/PPE and phlebotomy
• Experienced in monitoring for abdominal compartment syndrome
• Skilled in CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute kidney injury and renal failure
• Experienced in pre/post hemodialysis management and intake/output monitoring
• Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management
• Experienced with IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to complex MICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and life support interventions
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Cannot have more than 10 days of requested time off (RTO)
• Previous employees may only return after a 6-month system-wide separation
